Los Angeles Addiction Treatment Outpatient Rehab
Create Recovery Center Outpatient Treatment Center Los Angeles, CA
Feeling lost? Searching through the countless addiction treatment options available in Los Angeles can be overwhelming, especially when you’re in pain. Facing your addiction is a courageous choice, and it’s important to find resources and a support system that is willing to support you every step of the way.
Located in beautiful West Los Angeles, Create Recovery Center offers individuals with substance use disorders a safe nonjudgmental environment in which they can recover from addiction. Every person is different, and there is no catch-all approach to addiction treatment that works the same way for everyone. Our team of counselors and addiction experts work with clients to evaluate their unique needs and develop individualized treatment plans that cover all the bases. Our treatment approach isn’t “get-with-the-program.” Instead, the program is sculpted around you.
Our holistic evidence-based approach is catered to individuals, taking into account their unique relationship with substances, mental health history, and personal circumstances. Using a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, from group therapy to cognitive behavioral therapy, our clients make strides rapidly as they come to a better understanding of both themselves and their place in the world. But it’s not all self-reflection. While most find that examining the underlying nature of their addictions to be revelatory, the skills and tools that they learn in the process provide them with an even profounder sense of empowerment. Many individuals arrive at Create Recovery Center broken down and hopeless, but most end up looking back at that so-called “bottom” as the moment they began a process of radical transformation.
People who have tried and failed to stay sober multiple times have probably already begun to suspect that long term sobriety is about more than just staying away from problematic substances. Physical abstinence is a great beginning, but without a proper program of recovery relapse is often just a few short months — or even days — away. Create Recovery Center aims to provide individuals with the life strategies and tools they need to avoid a demoralizing relapse. And not just avoid a relapse. Because sobriety is about more than just gritting your teeth and saying no to drugs. Sobriety is about living a happy and fulfilling life for years to come. That’s why Create Recovery Center works with our clients to develop long term plans and helps them take the steps necessary to reach their goals. We suspect that’s also why so many of our graduates stay in touch with us years after becoming sober.
Our Programs
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Partial hospitalization programs are the ideal choice for someone whose addiction has reached a severe point. Our PHP program is both highly supportive and highly structured so that no one is left behind. Requiring attendance for approximately 6 hours a day most days of the week, our partial hospitalization programs allow individuals to receive psychiatric and medical support on top of a program of recovery. While coordinating with psychiatrists, your case worker will help you develop and meet short term goals that enable you to make rapid-fire progress towards getting your feet on the ground. For individuals who need housing, we are happy to make arrangements with local sober living homes so that people can maintain their growth 24/7 in a safe, sober environment.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive outpatient programs are the second highest level of care we offer, with clients participating in our IOP program for 3-4 hours a day for about half the week. Using a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and skills-training workshops, individuals in Create Recovery Center’s IOP can begin coming to a better understanding of the underlying issues behind their addictions and develop skills and tools that enable them to tackle life — and not be tackled by life. By the end of a person’s IOP program, they will have a solid foundation and be well-prepared to transition to a lower level of care.
Outpatient Program (OP)
Outpatient programs are ideal for individuals who are transitioning from a higher level of care, such as an IOP or inpatient treatment center, but want to continue putting their recovery first. Our outpatient program is also a great option for someone who needs the care and support of a treatment facility but does not have the flexibility to commit half the day to a treatment program. Requiring only a few hours, 1-2 times each week, our clients are free to make use of our resource center while upholding commitments to family, work, or school. It is the philosophy of the staff at Create Recovery Center that recovery from addiction and mental health disorders is about being able to thrive in the world, and our outpatient program is an invaluable resource for anyone who has already begun the process of rebuilding a life. We’re here to help you build it even more.
What We Treat
Create Recovery Center treats a range of personal issues, including substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and impulse control disorders. Despite our expertise and years of experience successfully treating these problems, we prefer to treat individuals who are suffering as unique cases, rather than applying a label and trying to make it fit. Pain is complicated, personal, and intimate. It is common for one person’s experience of a disorder to lie on a different part of the spectrum than another’s.
Services Offered
Create Recovery Center makes use of a broad range of evidence-based therapeutic methods. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. Pain is personal. When someone comes to us seeking help, their needs are often very particular to their situation. There is never a single cause when it comes both to addictions and to mental health. It is important that people have access to treatment that is personalized, compassionate, and science-backed. To that end, we offer a range of services, including:
Living in Los Angeles
Lying between the Pacific Ocean, towering mountains, and wide deserts is the city of Los Angeles. With an ever-growing population of 3,990,456, it is the second most populated city in the United States after New York City. Los Angeles is known as the birthplace and industrial powerhouse of the entertainment industry. Partly due to its hospitable Mediterranean climate, Los Angeles became the ideal place to shoot films in the early 20th century. Today, Los Angeles continues to be the home of a wide range of celebrities and creative professionals, though other industries, like technology, aerospace, manufacturing, and finance are also dominant in the city. Tourists are drawn to Los Angeles for its culture, sprawling metropolis, and Hollywood history. People are also continually motivated to move to Los Angeles, due to its reputation as a place where dreams come true.
Los Angeles, situated in Southern California near the Mexican border, is also extremely ethnically diverse. With 48.5% of the population identifying as Hispanic, 11% Asian, and 10% African American, Los Angeles possess a rich and heterogeneous culture that should make anyone feel welcome. Unfortunately, Los Angeles is also diverse in terms of wealth. While the city is famous for housing the rich and famous, 22% of Los Angeles’ population lives below the poverty line. Despite the city having a median household income of $49,497, many struggle to afford rent and food. It should come as no surprise that poverty and destitution, combined with the pressures to succeed in this “dream city,” have led Los Angeles to become a hotbed for substance abuse and mental illness.

Drug Abuse in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has historically struggled with substance abuse, due to a range of factors both sociological and geographical. High poverty levels throughout the city drive many people to turn to drugs and alcohol as short term remedies for their suffering. Even in the higher echelons of society, especially in the entertainment industry and its periphery, a culture of partying and drug use leads many people down the path to addiction. As a result, drugs and alcohol are pervasive at every level of the city.
Criminal activity surrounding substances is also high in Los Angeles County. Los Angeles’ proximity to the Mexican border is a major factor. Drug cartels moving substances up from South America often pass through and sell their products in Los Angeles. The government of the United States classifies Los Angeles as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), meaning it is an essential hub for criminals selling and distributing narcotics. While drug cartels from outside the country are in large part responsible for the sale of methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine, business is booming within the city as well, with small-scale marijuana distributors and methamphetamine producers making enormous profits often under the radar.
Los Angeles is also often considered the birthplace of the crack cocaine epidemic. Crack cocaine, use of which surged in the 80s and 90s, is a more addictive and readily available form of cocaine. As it spread throughout Los Angeles, lives and communities were destroyed. Not only did crime from homicides to theft go up, but overdoses and hospital visits destroyed lives and overtaxed the medical infrastructure of the city. While the crack epidemic has died down somewhat since the 90s, Los Angeles continues to be a center for wide scale drug addiction, and now faces a major reckoning with the opioid epidemic.
Addiction Statistics in Los Angeles County
The state of California ranks as having the fourth highest drug overdose deaths in the country. In 2017 alone, 4,868 people died as the direct result of a drug overdose. In Los Angeles, opioids bear the brunt of the responsibility, claiming an average of 464 lives every year. Not every overdose is fatal, but even the ones that are not can often do irreparable damage to a person’s health and livelihood. These medical emergencies also tax the medical infrastructure of the city. As the opioid epidemic continues to rage on, hospitalizations and emergency room visits have increased by 31% and 51% respectively, costing the city countless resources and millions of dollars.
In Los Angeles and its surrounding areas of Long Beach and Santa Ana, 8.7 percent residents 12 years of age and older qualify for the diagnosis of substance use disorder every year. This enormous population of 892,000 individuals with substance use disorders is often left untreated. The stigma surrounding addiction has led policymakers to limit funding for drug treatment and makes many individuals reluctant to seek necessary treatment themselves. Unfortunately, rampant substance abuse leads not only to lowered quality of life, increased mental illness, broken families, and citywide crime, it also takes lives. It is important that individuals suffering from substance use disorders and any associated mental health disorders seek help as soon as possible. Friends and family can also make use of intervention strategies to encourage someone to get help. With a wide range of treatment options available in Los Angeles, from outpatient treatment facilities to sober living homes, there is no reason why anyone should remain in the state of abject suffering that addiction fosters. A new life in sobriety is possible for anyone who takes that first step of admitting a problem and reaching out.
